Spilt Coffee and Gold Coins
“I’m leaving for work, Jen.” Jason took his coat off the hangar. He always let his wife know just before he left the house. The last thing he wanted was for her to worry about him.
“It’s Saturday, take a day off for once.” She almost always replied in much the same way. Why can’t she get it through her head? 1 can’t just take a day off. “I take every third Sunday off. You know that.”
“At least come home early.”
“I’ll be home in late tonight.” He opened the door, and stepped outside. “I have to go, I’ve got a presentation this morning, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to get ready in an hour.”
“Oh come on. You know you’ve been ready since two o’clock yesterday afternoon. Stay home for just awhile longer.”
“I need to go over a few things before it starts. This is a very important meeting. It’s with one of our biggest clients.”
“You’re a workaholic.”
